Star Group Bags Indian Cricket Television Rights

Star Group bags the television rights to telecast International and domestic matches going to be played by India. BCCI made a contract period of 6 years Television rights for star group. This deal also includes internet and mobile rights. The total amount has been valued as 3851 crores (approximately $750 million) for 96 matches. 

The other bidder was Sony (Set Max) who bags the rights for Indian Premier League. Star group will now pay 40 crores for each match played which is 7 crores higher than the previous bidder Nimbus Sports. Nimbus paid 32.5 crores for each match played by India. BCCI terminated its contract with Nimbus in December 2011, claiming that Nimbus has defaulted on its payment. 

One of the BCCI board official also mentioned that Star group will do greater specifications in the editorial matters than Nimbus. Of course Star Cricket is having greater experience in broadcasting live cricket matches with great quality.
